The news broke today that the Detroit Pistons have come to terms with guard Ben Gordon and forward Charlie Villanueva. Gordon's contract is rumored to be in the neighborhood of 5 years for $55 million, and Villanueva got a deal for 5 years $40 million.
It will be interesting to see where Ben Gordon will fit in with the Pistons. Rodney Stuckey saw his minutes increase quite a bit last year, but with the signing of Gordon who is 6'3", Stuckey's production numbers are bound to be down along with his minutes played.
Villanueva adds some more veteran depth at the forward position. Antiono McDyess is rumored to be next to re-sign with the Pistons. With Jason Maxeill and Amir Johnson both seeing more playing time last year, it will be interesting to see who gets cut here as well. Don't forget that the Pistons took 3 forwards in the draft this year as well.
Gordon and Villanueva cannot officially sign with a new team until July 8th. Stay tuned for the signings of two key players, and possibly more moves by Joe Dumars, including hiring a new head coach.
